So last week we watched the movie Children of Men. Surprisingly I really liked the movie. It wasn't one of those movies where everything just stood out and it made complete sense all at once. I had to pay attention and think about what was going on in the movie to understand it. There are many controversial topics that are presented all throughout this movie. The biggest controversy was the fact that Kee was pregnant and what to do with her and her baby.

I completely agree with Zizek's commentary on the movie. I do think that the background of the movie was much more important than the foreground. What took place in the background was the basis of the movie. I do also agree that the background took over the light of the actors. Overall it was a good movie and its definitely worth a watch.

Oh No!

So today has been quite the day. Besides going to classes, I spent my day studying for my Calculus exam I had tonight. Oh boy I'm glad I took last night and today to study for it. It wasn't terribly long but I sure needed more time to finish it up. So I hope that I do decent on it. Tomorrow should be a good day. I only have English tomorrow and I get the rest of the day to myself and to studying for my Latin exam that's on Friday and my Chemistry exam that's next week. I'm really looking forward to going home this weekend and sleeping in my bed. And of course eating my mommy's delicious home cooking. I also have to work but I will manage. So I have made a plan for myself to start working out again. I went the first week of school and then foolishly sprained my ankle. Its sorta healing because I'm always walking on it but I know I can no longer put working out off. So I'm excited about that and I like that TRECS is across the street from where I am. Also another thing I am excited for. I bet everyone could guess it by now. FOOTBALL!! But I won't rant about it today. Well I'm off to bed. Goodnight..

Eek

So I thought I would have a nice relaxing weekend but it was anything but relaxing. I spent this weekend tutoring my cousin who is a sophomore at Central High School. She missed about 3 weeks of school and she is really behind. So I had to help her out with school work. Of course, on Saturday I had to take a break from all of that and watch some Tennessee football. I was surprised to see we were not completely annihilated by Florida. Hopefully by the next season we will be up to par. During the day I had the sniffles and I just thought "its probably just allergies." Boy was I wrong when I woke up Sunday. My face hurt and I was congested. Oh no, I have a cold. I made my way back and spent the rest of the day watching more football. We first watched the Titans game. It was upsetting watching the Titans lose to the Texans but I shortly got over that lose when the Bears vs Steelers game started. I sat there the whole game not knowing what was going to happen. After watching the Bears lose to the Packers the week before I was nervous on how things were going to go. I was very happy that the Bears took it home at the end of it all. Afterward, I came back to campus and watched more football of course. But I could not make it through all of the Giants vs Cowboys game. I felt horrible and thought I would need a good nights rest. As of today, I feel a tad better. Still congested and tired but I think I should be better in a couple of days. Well I should close this blog off so I can go catch up on some Monday Night Football.

First Month!!

So I was sitting here pondering on what to write my blog about and it came to me that I have been in college for a month. My first month has been a pretty good experience. Nothing too wild but its overall been fun. I know it not been much of a move since I only moved across town but I love the fact that my parents are letting me stay on campus. Its been a change living in small quarters with one person, sharing a bathroom with three people. It can be overwhelming at times, but I'm grateful that I have a wonderful roommate and suitemates. For my classes, they aren't terrible. Calculus is a little bit of trouble but I feel like I'll get a hang out it soon enough. Or I hope so. So I hope that the next few years fun this smoothly but I know there are going to be some road blocks along the way.

Football

This past weekend marked the beginning of the professional football season. So for the next few months my weekends will be filled with lots of football. Watching football is a great past time for my family and a hobby for me. Even though I don't follow it as much as some people do, I am a die hard fan for the Chicago Bears and of course ours truly Tennessee Volunteers. Football is such a great way to connect with other because there are so many other people who watch it. Its always fun arguing with a friend or family member who is going for the opposing team. Even though football might not be everyone's favorite sport, there is always some fun in it.

September 11th Anniversary

Today marks the 8th Anniversary of the fall of the World Trade Center Towers. I can remember that I was in the fifth grade when this happened. Teachers were frantic and students were confused. We didn't know what to think. And once we find out that the towers had been attacked by terrorists, we were even more lost. The thought of terrorism never crossed our fifth grade minds, we were too caught up in going to recess. But September 11th was a turn for our country and our future. Since then national security has been tight and our country has been under close watch. So today we should take a moment and remember those whose lives were lost on that terrifying day.

Labor Day Weekend

So a long weekend was definitely needed to relax. I thought I would be doing a lot of studying but family fun of course got in the way of that. I also learned not to type a paper at midnight. Sunday night I thought I would be able to concentrate and type more of my paper but boy was I wrong. I read it again Monday and it made so sense. So now I know to only write my papers when I am coherent or it will be a jumbled mess. Besides typing my rough draft I had my family come over. I have a cousin who is a senior in high school so I thought it was appropriate to show her UTK's campus so she could see what college life was like. Oh and also I had to work Monday. My manager decided to text me Saturday and ask if I could work. Of course I wasn't able to say No. Basically, thats how my weekend went.
